Freelancer v Disco 2 - am I mad?
« on: September 26, 2018, 11:11:28 AM »
Hi

I've just been told that my old Passat estate will need too much work to get through its next MOT. Trying to be positive, I'm hoping that I can get back into a LR.

It will be my main vehicle, up to 10k miles a year but I'd like some space for the kids and all their rubbish.

Initially I thought of a Discovery 2 however I only have up to 2k and it looks like I could only get a knackered one (or one on its last legs).

A Freelander might be a bit cheaper to run but again, I'm worried that 2k wouldn't be enough to get something that would last me a few years.

Is my budget too small? I'm not really able to do any mechanical stuff myself.

Thanks

Gav

Any Disco at that price is going to be a gamble.
You can get a 2004 petrol Freelander or a 2006 diesel. Both on Autotrader for 2000.
Or a 2008 Passat estate for 1500.

The VW is bigger newer and cheaper to run. Hmmmm.
