New Motorsport UK RS Clubman licence from 2020
The new regulations and costs from Motorsport UK were discussed and whilst some detail is still not available, here are the important pieces that we do know.
From January 1st 2020 anyone wanting to drive, navigate or be a passenger in any car in any club run Tyro, RTV, CCV, Timed Trial, Club Comp, WDW, Gymkhana or any other permitted event will require an MSUK Competition Licence. The minimum licence will be the RS Clubman Licence, which will be free to everyone, this will replace the existing licence required by speed events at present.
This is to be presented in addition to your club membership card at each event.
The licence gives every holder access to member benefits which at present include things like discounts at Halfords and other services.
At present it is not clear how this will affect events like driving days, Mud Master, War of the Roses or if you compete in any other club’s event.
Licences are not required for Green Road Runs.
Licence application will open on Monday 18th November, we would urge you to complete your application as soon as possible and not wait until the last minute, especially If you wish to compete in events starting on the 11th January. A link will be posted when available.
Over the years MSUK have been slowly increasing their permit costs (per driver for each event) which until now the club has covered. From January 2020 all permit costs will increase by £5 per driver. Obviously the club cannot afford to take up this increase, therefore the decision was taken to increase the cost of events from 1st January 2020 to:
Tyro, RTV, CCV £20
Under 18s Trial £15
Timed Trial £30
Club Comp £40.
Other event costs will be published at the time
