Restarting SLROC Events

7th November 2020 - CCV - TBA
15th November 2020 - RTV - TBA
29th November 2020 - TYRO - TBA

6th December 2020 - Green Road Run - TBA
26th December 2020 - Boxing Day Bash - TBA

*The Refresher RTV on the 2nd of August will be a "Gentle" RTV just to allow us as organisers & you as entrants to get back in to the swing of an event, bearing in mind the new requirements and Social Distancing, etc.   This will not be an RTV Championship event.

All events will follow the most up to date guidance from the Scottish Government & Motorsport UK.   Motorsport UK guidance can be found here https://www.motorsportuk.org/restart/ , and more specifically here https://www.motorsportuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/getting-motorsport-back-on-track-club-sport-appendix-v18-may-2020.pdf .

This does mean a few changes, and we acknowledge that you may not like some, but we have to follow them, as the only alternative is no events.

If you wish to participate in an event you will have to book and pay online and email your signing on declaration before the event.   Bookings will typically open 2 weeks before the event and close on the evening before.   Event officials, Set Up Teams & Marshals will also need to email a Signing-on Declaration.

Number of entrants for each event will be limited.

Events are effectively being run behind "closed doors", meaning no Spectators (including other friends & family members), photographers, those walking dogs and general hanger-on'ers.   Only competitors, event organisers and signed on marshals will be allowed on each site.

In Motorsport UK Permitted events (TYRO, RTV, CCV & Boxing Day Bash), currently, no vehicle sharing or passengers are allowed, even from the same household.   (We are hopeful that this guidance will be updated soon, but for the moment, please plan accordingly).

You will notice that we are not planning to restart our Speed Championships.   Although we have been fortunate in the past and not required the assistance of the emergency services for a competitive incident, we felt we could not rely on, and over burden the Ambulance and NHS services if anything did go wrong.   Although all forms of Motorsport may be dangerous, for us, speed increases the risk massively, and therefore to reduce that burden, the cost of bringing in Licensed Motorsport Rescue & Recovery would be out with the means of many of our members.

We are really pleased that we are in a position that events can restart, but are acutely aware that many other forms of Motorsport are not in such a fortunate position.

Personally I would like to thank all those who have been working behind the scenes to make this happen.   Your committee, our Land Owners, our colleague from other Motorsport Groups & Clubs and to you our members & competitors for your patience.   It has been a challenging time for all!

We still need to remember, in all that we do...

Stay Safe - Protect Others - Save Lives

Restarting SLROC Events - UPDATE!!!

I am please to advise that I have now had confirmation from MsUK that those who cohabit can now passenger / share a vehicle at our Club Sport events, so for us that means our TYRO & Trials events.

I can also confirm that our first Green Road Run will take place at Balquhidder on the 16th of August.   We are thankful to the land owner for allowing us access.

Full details of how to book on to an event will be issued in due course.

All events being able to run are still reliant on the Scottish Government easing lockdown further and allowing people to meet in extended groups outdoors (with social distancing).   An announcement is expected on this on or around the 10th of July.

Stay safe everyone,

Dean

Honest answer, dunno.

Still being discussed.   If it is it will be a very different experience, and whilst it will have plenty of driving, it will have to have no, or very little social interaction, which I know is a big part of the day.

Unfortunately the restart to events that we had hoped for has not been able to happen.

With the current restrictions in place limiting outdoor groups to no more than 5 households we do not plan to hold any future events until after the next government announcement which is not expected to come in to force until at least the 24th of August.

This specifically means that the Green Road Run planned for the 16th of August will not go ahead and there will be no trials competitions until at least the 30th of August where we are arranging to split the events across 2 seperate sites (which are still currently being arranged).

All groups and businesses are continually having to review, change and adapt plans and we are no exception.   The committee's unswerving desire is to run events, but only when, and in a manner that can keep our members safe (we do not want to be like the pubs and restruants that are becoming hotspots for virus transmission, nor like the professional football clubs, that are struggling in these unprecidented times).

Please stay safe and take care,

Dean

If you wish to pre-register for our trials on the 30th of August, please go to http://www.slroc.co.uk/how-to-enter/ .

Use the link to “book and pay” for an event and choose the event you would like to participate in.

Click “buy a ticket” - you will not be able to buy a ticket at this stage, but this will then give you an option to enter your email address and be added to the “waiting list”.

This means that when we are in a position to confirm that the event can go ahead you will be notified of the ability to formally buy your ticket.   It will also give the convenors an idea of the numbers wishing to attend.

Please note, being on the waiting list does not give you any form of priority entry or guarantee you a place on the event.   Bookings will open to everyone at the same time, and you will also need to email a signing-on declaration once you have secured your ticket to complete your entry.

Here’s hoping we can get out to play on the 30th

P.S.   TYRO location is still to be confirmed, but is likely to be nearer Glasgow than Edinburgh 😉

Hello,
For those who are going to take part in any of our post lockdown trials (which start on the 29th & 30th of August), here is a draft of the drivers briefing that will be issued.
This should give you an idea of how the event will run, and some of the key differences to expect.

Remember, if you want to take part you need to book and pay for your ticket at  http://www.slroc.co.uk/how-to-enter/
(There are a number of people who went on the waiting list for the events over the last few weeks, but have yet to book and pay.   There are also a number of people who have booked and paid, but have not completed and emailed their signing-on & scrutineering declaration.   Both these actions need to be done before you can turn up.)

A couple of spaces left for this weekend’s TYRO at Dechmont.

The Open Trial at Shotts is now full.   Big thanks to those who have been flexible about the day 👍

All but 2 people have now completed their Signing on & Scrutineering Declaration, thank you to everyone who has managed this.   I have sent reminder emails, but if you are having difficulties with it let me know and I will assist.

Drivers briefings will be issued by email on Friday Night.

Sorry, but no spectators allowed.

Can’t wait to get the club back competing 😁
